Public Outreach: Sharing Our Harvest

The California Bountiful Foundation brings together farmers, ranchers, food business leaders, chefs and consumers to understand more fully how food and farm products are produced, sold, prepared and consumed.

As part of its public outreach efforts, the foundation is continuing a grant project that began in 2012 to widen the audience for the California Bountiful television program.

Under terms of the grant, California Bountiful will promote understanding between farm and city by producing 15 programs during 2013 that will focus exclusively on specialty crops; another 10 programs will feature other crops and commodities as well as specialty crops. Grant funds will be used to purchase airtime on commercial stations in San Francisco, Los Angeles and other markets for the exclusive specialty crop programs. The California Farm Bureau Federation, which produces California Bountiful, will purchase time for the other programs. Each program will be aired twice during the calendar year.

Education: Growing Our Future

The California Bountiful Foundation supports scholarships and other programs to advance the education of California students, consumers and agriculturalists, to improve their leadership abilities and knowledge for the betterment of our state’s family farms and ranches, rural communities and people.

Research: Sustaining Our Farmlands and Scenic Environments

The California Bountiful Foundation supports, funds and promotes research leading to the development and implementation of techniques, devices, services and systems that will result in a more efficient use of land, water, energy and other resources.
